She sounds pretty amazing actually.

I agree. I think being a parent puts you as role model #1. This means that I think it's important to have hobbies, interests, and passions out side of parenting. I think this really helps your children see that when they're older they don't have to settle into the wife/mother or husband/father role. That there's so much more to life than that.Simple Musingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03972933852651064813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4389945172332432287.post-18376085441252215942012-06-20T18:08:21.662-07:002012-06-20T18:08:21.662-07:00My personal addition to this list of HBICs is Sara...My personal addition to this list of HBICs is Sara Murphy. She and her husband Gerald were like the raddest couple of the 1920s. Everyone talks about Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, but those two were incredibly dysfunctional and scary. Sara and Gerald, on the other hand, were incredible. I love Sara because she was friends with (and the muse for) so many incredible writers, artists (including Picasso), and musicians in the 20s, but she also maintained a happy, stable, loving family life with her husband and 3 children.

I just see so many families today where it seems like the parents have given up so much of themselves to their children... I mean their actual core selves. They forget that being a great parent can also mean being a person who has interests and passions outside of their children. Obviously, your kids are always your priority, but it scares me sometimes to think that once you have kids being a parent is the only aspect of yourself you are allowed to project to the world.

Sara and Gerald lived an incredible life, and it wasn't all picture-perfect for them (they lost two of their children). I find them to be really inspiring and interesting.Jess @ It's Jess!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02985255019884625767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4389945172332432287.post-80059891842802895802012-06-20T10:25:47.103-07:002012-06-20T10:25:47.103-07:00You know what? Average people out there need to focus on the good before big change occurs!

You should write a blog post about each of those woman using the tag "role models" and then when young girls search google looking for "role models" they'll come accross your positive posts!

Cause thats how things change. It starts with a few people doing things to change things and then it snowballs!

Heck if you do make the posts let me know, I'll draw pictures of the woman so there will be an actual photo and a cartoonists rendering to spice up the blog posts!Berserculeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00980762819283689198noreply@blogger.com
