So much of what TATE does strikes deep emotional responses in me. This is one of the first songs I fell in love with from them, and finally a video for it premiered today. I guess I was getting down to a live unofficial version of the song that was made long before it made it to their new album.
All I Ever Wanted is based off of a short-story "The Hitchhiker Game" by Milan Kundera. It's about a couple that's dating and she's very shy and innocent and he has been around the block a time or two. She is self-conscience of herself and he likes the purity about her. They are on a road trip and they stop so she can use the restroom and when she gets back to the car this spontaneous interaction occurs where she pretends to be a hitchhiker that he picks up.
They decide to play a game where she's a seductress, everything she thinks he wants in a woman. The more they play, the deeper they go into the game, the more he begins to hate her. He thinks maybe the sweet innocent he fell in love with was always a lie since she plays the whore so well. She is confident and comfortable with herself as she becomes what the role calls for. It's an interesting story. Here's the link to it: http://shallaon.blogspot.com/2005/12/shalla-on-hitchhiking-game-by-milan.html
