Daydream Believer

By now has everyone heard the news about Davy Jones passing away at the age of 66 from an apparent heart attack? I am incredibly saddened by this news.

I grew up watching The Monkee's television show with my grandfather. TV Land- they'd have a 2 hour block of The Monkee's every week night. I watched as often as I could. I don't remember a time in my life when I didn't love their music. I'm listening to their greatest hits now on my iPod. His appearing on the Brady Bunch was one of the best things ever, and that is still one of my favorite episodes of the show. He was so cute, a tiny little nugget of adorability.

I'm sure this isn't going to be the ordeal Michael Jackson/Whitney Houston was with the mainstream media. Honestly, those deaths barely made a ripple in my life. This though, the passing of Davy Jones, this will effect me.

And my BFF Lay had an encounter with him about 16 years ago when he hit on her at a book signing (or record signing?). Her mother was scandalized and laid into him. I was scandalized when I heard she didn't join him back at his hotel, so what if she was 15 and he was 50 something. It was Davy Jones man...

  1. Deserves more coverage from the media than what Whitney got, imo.

  2. I'm too young for the TV show but I did listen to a lot of their music. And yes, agreed with you and Matt, Whitney died and the entire world stopped for a week. Davy Jones died and I didn't even find out until I saw it on Twitter. I barely saw any news coverage.

    1. You just made me feel old. I was too young to see it new! I loved the reruns though!

  3. I was just talking about that Brady Bunch episode. It was like every girl's dream come true. I'm a little young for The Monkees, but I watched all the episodes of the show on MTV in the '80's. It was so funny and just a good time to watch.

I'm sure that Davy is sitting on a cloud (because that is what you do in heaven to relax) singing a peppy little tune to entertain the others. At least I hope that's true.
