Noelle has arrived!

Noelle Hazel Jenkins
Born at 3:14 p.m. on November 6, 2012
6 lbs 13.7 ounces
19 inches long
100% perfect

At about 4:45 a.m. on November 6th my water broke. Unfortunately, it broke without me having any contractions. (Side note: guys, I had no idea that when your water broke it kept on leaking. I thought it would be just the initial gush and then nothing. Nope- so ladies- if you get pregnant invest in crazy thick pads to wear while you make your way to the hospital.)

So labor had to be induced since I wasn't contracting. After several hours on the pitocin and contracting without any regularity, I was told I had to have a C-section because I had a dysfunctional uterus. Of course I do. Because, why wouldn't I. Later, after I delivered I was told even if my uterus wasn't "dysfunctional" I would have had to have a c-section anyways, but it would have been much worse.

If I would have had regular contractions and started to labor naturally then Noelle would have ended up getting stuck in the birth canal because my pelvis is flat and she wouldn't have been about to make her way through. It would have lead to an emergency c-section and lots of distress to Noelle and would have been fairly dangerous. So, while my doctor is amazing and said normally the next pregnancy I would have been able to have a natural delivery, in my case I'll never be able to. So if there's more nuggets for me they'll all be c-section babies.

I've been home since Thursday afternoon. My hubby and I are ridiculously in love with Noelle. She's beautiful. You know how all parents think their kids are beautiful, even when they're not? Guys I'm not one of those delusional parents- I KNOW my nugget is gorgeous. I don't know where she gets her looks from, she's beautiful and petite and just amazing.

Tom (my hubby) and I just sit and stare at her in awe. I was worried about bonding. I'd read that it can take some mothers a few days to bond, others a few weeks, and some never bond at all. I was so concerned that I wouldn't bond with her and that I'd be just a horrible mother. I didn't need to worry at all. Pretty much from the first instant I had her in my arms I knew I'd do anything for her, I had never experienced such an immediate rush of love and affection before. It's really amazing.

Going home outfit- yeah she's already a Buffalo Bills fan.

All of my animals are very curious about her, but Tiffy my puggy is fascinated. She just sits and stares at her. Sometimes she goes up to her and licks her head, mostly she just stays close and watches. She's going to be a great big sister.

  1. Sweet MacGillicuddy Christ that is a cute baby. For realsies. I never ever think babies are cute, and, therefore, I lie about it all of the time, but that is a crazy beautiful baby. Like a little elfin princess.

  5. Ok, I'm 2 months late here, but I just found your blog! Congrats! She's beautiful!

When I had my daughter (now 15), the doc had to break my water and they would not let her cry after she was born until they suctioned her lungs. As they were cleaning her up, I looked over and she was looking right back at me with her huge blue eyes. I melted. Almost makes me wish she was little again. I still call her Peanut.
