A Haiku... to Meat

Juicy and tender
Throwing you down my mouth hole
Happy in belly

Don't tell me I can't write poetry. Even if that haiku to meat could be totally misconstrued. Guys, I am talking about the meat you bake, fry, grill and consume. Not the naughty man meat.

I love meat guys. I love most meat done anyway. When I first started wanting to consume food again my husband and I went to a buffet and I pretty much loaded two plates full of just meat.

That was before though. Before my nugget changed my taste buds. So now meat tastes funny. At first I thought it was just in my head when a few weeks ago we went out to dinner and the chicken in my pasta tasted a little off. Then I figured it was just me going crazy when the hamburger in my spaghetti tasted off. Last night it hit me while I was eating some chicken alfredo. The alfredo and noodles were delicious, but I was shoving all the meat over to the side of the plate and sneering at it in disdain.

My taste has changed. I've had friends and other ladies with babies tell me this was coming and I knew that one day I'd be eating something and suddenly not desire it or it'd taste off somehow. Never in a million years did I think it would be meat. Never.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

Since I right now have the constant desire to throw food into my mouth hole this funky meat taste thing is probably a good thing. At least I'm going to be tossing more veggies and fruit (which I already do- balanced diets mean a balanced nugget!) into my mouth hole.
